ABOUT US

We’re a Canadian (North) and Australian (South) couple, living in Australia with our three very unhelpful assistants: Toastie, Beanie, and Miso.
We’ve called both Canberra and Ottawa home, which means we’ve experienced firsthand the very specific, slightly misunderstood charm of each city. The kind people love to call “boring”… until they actually spend time there.
North/South started, like most good things, a little accidentally.
Our very first product was the “Canberra Thinks You’re Boring Too” mug. We had a single sample sitting at home, not really thinking much of it, when a friend (and Canberra micro-influencer) was house sitting for us. She found the mug, posted it on Canberra Day… and we came home to a flood of messages asking where people could buy it.
So we thought, alright, maybe we’re onto something!
Since then, we’ve been creating products that celebrate the quirks, humour, and quiet pride of places like Canberra. The inside jokes. The oddly specific references. The things that instantly make locals go, “wait… that’s actually so accurate.”
Everything we design is created by us, drawing on our own experiences living in these cities, with a mix of locally made and carefully sourced products. We care a lot about making things that feel thoughtful, well-made, and genuinely worth owning (or gifting, if you’re feeling generous).
At its core, North/South is about celebrating the places that shape you, especially the ones that don’t always get the hype they deserve.
And while Canberra will always be home, we’ve got a soft spot for other “underrated” cities too.
